ChemCast
GP Acrylic Sheet is a
lightweight, rigid thermoplastic material that has many times the
breakage resistance of glass. ChemCast GP is ultraviolet
light absorbing and therefore very weather resistance with standing
exposure for many years without losing its surface gloss or
mechanical properties. Chemcast GP sheets can be easily
fabricated using wood working tools. It can be Laser Cut.
machined, thermoformed, and cemented using readily available
companions products. ChemCast GP sheet may be perceived
as "transparent wood" which can be formed making ideal for
a wide range of applications.

Cutting and Machining ChemCast GP sheet may be Laser Cut, drilled, routed, filed and machined much like wood or brass with power equipment. Cementing ChemCast GP sheet can be cemented to itself using common solvent cemented or polymerizable cements, found below. The most critical factor is the condition of the edge to be cemented. The edges that have been laser cut are ready to cement. For those of you that can not handle a 24" x 18" Acrylic sheet on your laser table, LaserSketch will laser-cut the sheets in-half at no-charge. Larger dimensional sheets are available on request; up to 48" x 96". Cleaning dirty static charged Acrylic parts can be best achieved using Joy dish washing liquid in the same concentration as washing dishes. It is an excellent destatisizing agent. Masking: ChemCast GP acrylic sheet comes covered on both sides with a latex paper masking or polyethylene film masking. Laser cutting thru the masking will not damage the plastic sheet. The masking protects the sheet from scratching during storage and handling. Be sure to leave the masking in place during most phases of fabrication and installation. Except for intricate detail work, you should remove the masking only when your project is completed. Weld-On 3# Acrylic Cement, (Solvent): #3 dries very fast, if the speed of drying, (set), is to fast for you, you may slow down the speed of set by adding small chips of clear acrylic to the cement, (solvent). |
